The Choir
The Waikanae Anglican Parish Choir is a mixed choir of about 35 choristers. The Choir members come from all parts of the Kapiti Coast. We enjoy singing traditional Anglican music including chanted psalms, responses, anthems, and hymns.
We sing Choral Evensong at St Michael and All Angels, Waikanae Beach on the third Sunday of each month (February to November).
During Advent, we lead the festival of Nine Lessons and Carols at St Michael and All Angels and we repeat the same service a week later at St Paul’s Anglican Church in Paraparaumu. The Choir also sings at St Michael and All Angels on Easter Sunday morning.
In Lent we hold our “Way of the Cross” service which includes music written especially for this service by Professor Peter Godfrey.
Once a year, normally at Labour Weekend or thereabouts, we deputise for the Wellington Cathedral Choir at Choral Evensong at the Cathedral and this is always a very special occasion for us.
We rehearse on Tuesday evenings between 7:30 and 9:30pm at St Michael and All Angels church on the corner of Ngapaki St and Rangihiroa St, Waikanae Beach.
New members are always welcome and anyone interested in joining the Choir should contact the Director of Music, Ken Dougall on 027 704 8783 or at kmdougall@hotmail.com
